How to Sow
- Sow seeds 5cm deep, 5-7cm apart in a flat-bottomed trench
- Double rows 15-20cm apart work well
- Provide pea sticks, netting, or a trellis for plants to climb — most varieties reach 1-1.5m
- Water the drill before sowing
- Protect from mice with fine mesh until seeds germinate
Plant Care
- Support plants from early on — tendrils need something to grip
- Water well once flowers appear and during dry spells
- Pick every 2-3 days once pods start forming — regular picking keeps plants producing
- Don't overfeed — peas fix their own nitrogen
- Watch for pea moth and mildew in late season
